I wrote these one-act plays for a show I produced called The One-Eyed Cat and Other Tales of Need, which ran in Donny's Skybox Theatre at Second City in the fall of 2005.

The show got a pretty nice review in the Chicago Reader and attracted good-sized, enthusiastic audiences during its five-week run.

Rob Chambers, who directed The One-Eyed Cat, provided significant feedback on these scripts in their earlier stages and did a lot to shape their development. I am very proud of these plays - the first I have written. I hope you enjoy reading them as much as we enjoyed performing them.

  • The One-Eyed Cat
Boy meets girl at farmer's market. Is he quirky or dangerous?
  • If Fish Could Scream
A son battles with his father for independence, control over his life and family, and the proper technique for baiting a hook.
  • The Ledge
Two potential suicides meet on a window ledge.
  • Dusk Comes Early
A woman struggles with the evidence of her father's deteriorating mental condition.
  • The Analogy Butler
To save his relationship, a man is challenged to abandon an important emotional, psychological and rhetorical crutch.
